Aromatherapy & Sound Healing /Reiki| Mindful Life on Demand

Have trouble sitting in meditation?  Try aromatherapy.

When I meditate I often find myself frustrated by the wanderings of my mind.  Sometimes they are more than wanderings - they are more like urgent shouts that I should be doing something more productive with my time.  As my to do list increases in my mind, I sometimes end a meditation session early to get to some of the things on my list.

This is why I love singing bowls so much - sound healing with singing bowls was the first tool that enabled me to stop the chatter in my mind and just BE.  I do best with meditations that have a point of focus - whether it’s the breath, sensations in the body, mantras, or singing bowls, I can guide myself back to noticing these things and feeling them.

I find this to also be true when meditating with essential oils.  Aromatherapy meditation allows me to stay grounded. The sense of smell can so powerfully engage the brain that whether I’m diffusing essential oils, breathing them in on my hands, or applying them to my body, I can more easily stay fully present in the moment with their aroma.

The connection to the sense of smell in the moment keeps my mind on the next breath in and the aroma of the essential oil puts me truly in the moment.

Have you tried meditating with essential oils?  Let me know your experiences - just hit reply. What are your favorite essential oils to meditate with?  How do they make you feel?

One of my favorite oils is Young Living’s Raven.  It’s a combination of (Camphor) leaf oil, lemon, wintergreen, peppermint, and eucalyptus.  In addition to keeping me in the moment, it helps to open up my lungs so I breathe even deeper into this invigorating scent.  The combination of the essential oil and the time in meditation helps to pick up my energy when I’m feeling drained. I also find that it helps to get me motivated to work out on days when my motivation is low.

Private Sessions with Aromatherapy

Private yoga, meditation, sound healing, and reiki sessions can be enhanced with the use of essential oils.  Aromatherapy gives the mind another sense to connect to and can open up the chakras with the vibrational energy of the oils.
